Faustino Magsaisay(1740年：音楽家。原出典Libro de gobierno)1
フィリピン諸語の一つタガログ語で｢話す(to tell)2、物語を語る(to tell a story)3、
主張する、宣言する、述べる4、喜ぶ(rejoice)5｣を
意味する動詞の不定形magsaysayに由来する(個人名起源か(?))。第一要素mag-は動詞形成接頭辞なので、*say(say)という、何か話すことに関する語彙がある筈だが
確認が取れなかった。上掲の通り、古い記録が確認されている由緒のある名であるが、
資料が限られていて、これ以上何も判らない。動詞の不定詞形が人名になるのは、日本語の男名｢悟(ｻﾄﾙ)｣とか｢学(ﾏﾅﾌﾞ)｣、｢渉(ﾜﾀﾙ)｣を髣髴とさせる。
